The story conveys the message to love our self because once we start to love and accept our self, everybody will do as well.Violet Minturn is the daughter of an American woman, owner of a high-class courtesan house in Shanghai in the early 20th century. We are humans with our own flaws, and our flaws made us unique and perfectly imperfect. There is nothing wrong with being different because we are all made uniquely. The story reminds me to accept and to love myself.

Lulu’s six fingers made her special and different. In Lulu’s situation, she could have accepted her extra fingers, but her parents had them removed for their reasons when she was still innocent. One thing that I have learned in the story is acceptance acceptance to one’s body or physical appearance. I was impressed in the story “The Valley of Amazement” because it doesn’t just educate readers, but it also serves as an inspiration. It’s about being okay with who you are.” – Spenser You can’t be perfect, so you have to live with what you’ve got. “Self-acceptance is about understanding exactly who you are and accepting all of your personality traits, flaws, and mistakes, and knowing that is you. People should always remember that our view of ourselves is more important than the others’. Acceptance means embracing what is rather than wishing for what is not. Our body, our choice. If you choose to change your body and later regret it, the fault is no one’s but yours. We have the right to change any part of us because it belongs to us. This tells us that each one of us has the right to our own body. Lulu could have accepted the fact or not that she has an extra finger on each hand, but she has not been given a chance to do so. Like Lulu, I would be shocked and pained if I would know that part of me was removed because it was undesirable. The Valley of Amazement inspired me to be true to myself and to fight for my rights as a human person.
